Newham Poetry Group was founded by Sonia Quintero, a Colombian poet who has lived in London since May 2006. The cultural promoter says: ‘I hope that many people, not only Spanish speakers, visit us and know about literature, poems, novels and stories of our writers’.

La poesía es un lenguaje universal sin fronteras ni barreras. Tiene muchos dialectos pero se conecta con la esencia misma del alma humana. Expresa las emociones crudas del amor, la pasión, la ira y la maravilla. Es a la vez liberador e inspirador, y captura lo mejor del espíritu humano. El grupo de poesía Newham Poetry Group es un brillante ejemplo de la diversidad de nuestro municipio en acción. De asumir un proyecto e inculcar resiliencia y carácter, de hacer un cambio y de brindar esperanza a algunos de las personas más vulnerables de nuestra sociedad. Nuestros poemas son un buen ejemplo de la diversidad… El grupo de poesía fue fundado y organizado por Sonia Quintero, una poeta colombiana, en 2016.
Poetry is a universal language without borders and barriers. It has many dialects but connects to the very essence of the human soul. It expresses the raw emotions of love, passion, anger and wonder. It is both liberating and awe-inspiring and it captures the very best of the human spirit. The poetry group is a shining example of the diversity of our borough in action. Of taking on a project and instilling resilience and character, of making a change and giving hope to some of the most vulnerable in our society. Our poems are a good example of the diversity in our borough. The poetry group was founded and organised by Sonia Quintero, a Colombian poet, in 2016.

La Feria del Libro es una gran oportunidad para resaltar el enorme y positivo impacto de los hispanohablantes en el Reino Unido. Podemos contribuir a la comunidad y mantener nuestras raíces y expresiones culturales.
The Book Fair is a great opportunity to highlight the enormous and positive impact of the Spanish speakers in UK. We can contribute to the community and keep our roots and cultural expressions.
