Consuelo Rivera-Fuentes is the founder of the independent publishing house Victorina Press. Poeta, ensayista, cuentista. Tengo una Maestría en Publicación, Doctorado en Sociología y Estudios de la Mujer. Numerosos artículos en diferentes revistas internacionales como el International Women’s Studies Forum y La Tundra. Soy co-fundadora del grupo literario Las Juanas y co-autora de Maravilladoras: Navigators of the Thames (Cuentos), Maravilladoras: Poetry Navigators of the Thames (Poesía). Autora de La Liberación de la Eva Desgarrada (Poesía, 1991), Arena en la Garganta (Poesía, 2011). Editora de Unraveling Memories (2017), Violeta Walks on Foreign Lands (2018), Vo(i)ces editado con Isabel del Rio (2019) y Friends of Alice Publishing. Soy fundadora de Victorina Press.

Con respecto a la participación de Victorina Press en The London Spanish Book Fair. ¿Por qué es importante una feria del libro en español en el Reino Unido?
Why is a book fair in Spanish important in the United Kingdom?
El Reino Unido es un gran crisol de culturas e idiomas. Ya era hora de que este multiculturalismo se reflejara no solo en la venta y promoción de libros, revistas y fanzines en inglés, sino también en español. América Latina y España merecen estar representadas porque nuestra contribución al panorama socio-político y económico en este país es y seguirá siendo importante. El lema de Victorina Press es: ‘La bibliodiversidad es hermosa‘ porque creemos que la diferencia y la diversidad son importantes para el desarrollo de cualquier sociedad. Aplaudimos los esfuerzos de La Tundra para organizar este evento y esperamos que continúe sucediendo en el futuro.
The United Kingdom, is a huge melting pot of cultures and languages. It was about time that this multiculturalism was reflected in not only the sale and promotion of books, magazines and fanzines in English, but also in Spanish. Latin America and Spain deserve to be represented because our contribution to the socio-political and economic landscape in this country is and will continue to be important. Victorina Press’s motto is: ‘Bibliodiversity is Beautiful’ because we think that difference and diversity are important to the development of any society. We applaud the efforts of La Tundra to organise this event and we hope that it continues to happen in the future.

¿Qué expectativas tienes de esta feria del libro y fanzines en Londres?
What are your expectations of this book and fanzines fair in London?
En primer lugar, esperamos establecer contactos con otros editores, ilustradores y autores potenciales que simpatizan con nuestro espíritu, y también poder promover algunos de nuestros otros autores a una audiencia que tal vez no haya tenido la oportunidad de leer su trabajo. Para nosotros, este evento tiene mucho más que ver con las personas que con las relaciones entre empresas. Queremos intentar y promover la bibliodiversidad tanto como sea posible en nuestros entornos literarios y sociales.
We hope firstly to network with other publishers, illustrators and potential authors who are sympathetic to our ethos, and also to promote some of our other authors to an audience that may not have had the opportunity to read their work. For us this event is much more about the people than it is about business to business relations. We want to try and promote bibliodiversity as much as possible in our literary and social environments.
