The Spanish Theatre Festival of London (FesTeLõn) will hold its 14th edition from 20 to 24 October 2026, cementing its place as one of the great showcases of Spanish performing arts in the UK. This year, the festival begins a new chapter with its programme moving to the Canada Water Theatre, at 21 Surrey Quays Road, London, SE16 7AR.

Since its founding in 2013, FesTeLõn has become an unmissable date for theatre lovers in the British capital, offering a meeting point each year between Spanish companies and London audiences, while strengthening cultural ties between the two countries.

A new home for the festival

The 2026 edition marks the start of a new chapter for FesTeLõn with its move to the Canada Water Theatre, a venue that will support the festival’s growth and development. Following last year’s edition, FesTeLõn 2026 arrives with a programme bringing together a carefully curated selection of works spanning drama and comedy through to family shows and contemporary productions, reflecting the festival’s commitment to a diverse programme open to all kinds of audiences.
Among the main new features is the return of FesTeLõn Kids, a strand designed especially for family audiences, aiming to bring Spanish culture to children through age-appropriate performances.

A cultural bridge between Spain and the UK

Founded by Mariví Rodríguez Quiñones, FesTeLõn began as an independent initiative with the aim of building bridges between the Spanish theatre scene and British audiences. Over its fourteen editions, the festival has established itself as a platform for both renowned companies and new voices in Spanish theatre, becoming a benchmark for cultural exchange between Spain and the UK.

Theatre accessible to all audiences

True to its philosophy of bringing Spanish theatre to as wide an audience as possible, all performances will feature English surtitles, allowing non-Spanish speaking audiences to fully enjoy each production.
In addition, a post-show talk with the cast will follow each performance, giving audience members the chance to learn first-hand about the creative process and exchange thoughts with those involved in each production. These audience discussions will be interpreted into both languages.

FesTeLõn 2026 programme

Over five days, the festival will present eight stage productions:

  • “Ya me has tocado el cuento” (“You Have Wrecked my Fairytale”)
    Tuesday 20 October, 7:30pm
    A comedy from Evoca, MPC and Arte Atroz.
    Princesses Aurora, Belle, Cinderella, and Snow White have escaped to the Real World. Left behind, they princes set out to bring them back. But when princes need help, who can they turn to?
  • “La Celestina”
    Wednesday 21 October, 7:30pm
    A version of the work by Fernando de Rojas, adapted by Jaume Policarpo, staged by Bambalina
    company. Faced with the current crisis in theatre and exhibition, we embrace a more essential artistic approach, entrusting two performers with staging the tragicomedy of Calisto and Melibea.
  • “Los árboles no votan” (“Trees Don’t Vote”)-
    Thursday 22 October, 7:30pm
    Written and directed by José Ignacio Tofé, with Susana Hernández,
    Elías González, Ana Janer and Pedro Cerezo in the cast.
    A regional president is desperate for an electoral game changer. Her advisor and a businessman offer the ideal campaign pledge: a decarbonisation plant that claims to save the planet by removing CO₂ from the air.
  • “Leonora”
    Friday 23 October, 7:30pm
    Starring Natalia Huarte, written and directed by Alberto Conejero.
    Leonora is a poetic journey into the world of surrealist artist Leonora Carrington, focusing on her youth and years in Spain after the Civil War. Rather than a conventional biography, it evokes fragments of her luminous spirit, resistance, and longing for freedom. Inspired by her diary Memories from Below, the piece explores her artistic awakening, psychiatric violence, and imagination’s power to transcend time.
  • “¡Eureka! Pioneras de la Ciencia
    Saturday 24 October, 11:30am, Canada Water Library
    A family show as part of the FesTeLõn Kids strand, from Será
    Será Theatre, written and performed by Andrea Holland. This 45-minute
    performance, recommended for ages 6 and up, introduces Dr Eureka, an
    endearing scientist who keeps a great book dedicated to pioneering women in
    science in her laboratory.
  • “Archipiélago” (“Archipelago” – Saturday 24 October, 2:30pm)
    A stage project by Begoña Caparrós.
    Archipelago invites us into the suspended lives of three individuals evicted from their homes. One tenant’s suicide amid imminent eviction prompts the building’s new owners to relocate all tenants to a ship.
  • “Si alguna vez hubo un nosotros” (“If There Ever was an Us” – Saturday
    24 October, 7:30pm)
    Written and directed by Ignasi Vidal, performed by Félix
    Gómez and Noemí Ruiz, produced by Pedro Macarro for La Gran Belleza
    Producciones.
    Jaime and Marla were once “us.” Now only two voices remain, reaching for each other through memories, reproaches, and silence. On a bare stage, their monologues weave together to reveal a universal truth: two people who loved each other deeply, yet could not save themselves.
