The London Spanish Book & Zine Fair 2024 announces the poster contest to design the main poster of the Sixth Edition of the Fair. The theme of this year's edition is Found by Words. The call is open to illustrators, graphic designers and artists internationally.

Selected posters, finalists and the award winner will be exhibited at the Sixth Edition of the London Spanish Book & Zine Fair on Sat 5th October at Conway Hall, 25 Red Lion Square, London, WC1R 4RL, United Kingdom. 

Your poster design must be inspired by this year’s theme. Found by words. 

For this contest the LSBZF will team with La Tundra Revista, Femiñetas, Glasgow Zine Library, Art House Project London, DIY ZineBank and the London International Paste Up Festival. 

Deadline for submitting your work: 15th August, 2024
Awarded Poster decision: 25th August, 2024
Exhibition: Saturday 5th October 2024  

The winner of the contest will be awarded with a prize of £ 200.- (British Pounds). There’s no entry fee to participate and you may submit up to five files per application.

The theme of this year’s poster is: ‘Found by words’.

RULES

1) – Poster Description: Describe each poster in your submission form. Max. 150 words.

2) – Attach IMAGES of the posters: A1 

3) – Your design must include the name London Spanish Book & Zine Fair and the logo at some place of the poster. The logo doesn’t have to be central or big, it could be at any corner or place that you decide on your design.

It also must to include the date: Sat 5th Oct 2024 and the venue: Conway Hall – London WC1R 4RL

Your poster design must be inspired by this year’s theme. Found by words. 

It may include the words: Found by words and you have to leave some free areas at the bottom of your design to include later on the logos of our sponsors. As some of the posters are going to be printed for the exhibition you must adapt strictly your design to the following dimensions: 

Poster dimensions for printing: 600mm (horizontal) x 847mm (including bleed) 300 DPI, RGB, JPG. 
Cut size 594mm (horizontal) x 841mm (vertical)
Text Safe are: 3mm

Poster size in inches: 23.4 inches (horizontal) x 33.1 inches (vertical)

“File name format”: Country + first name and last name of the author. If your poster is going to be printed you will be asked for a CMYK high resolution file of your design and you’ll need to submit it by 25th August 2024.

4) – Your submission has to include a final version of the poster and one or two options with the background only as this is going to be used for promoting the activities, talks and presentations of the book and fanzine fair on social media mainly. You can send up to 5 files through the submission form. The awarded poster and at least 10 posters more will be printed printed in A1 to A3 size. It is the responsibility of the entrant to ensure the good quality of the images when the poster is printed in a larger size.

5) – We don’t accept any AI generated posters. 

6) – Posters must be presented in English and may include text in Spanish and other languages depending on your design. If you wish you can submit a version of your poster in English/Spanish/Bilingual. Posters must not contain any information identifying community members who have created or submitted them. There must be no names nor affiliations on the poster. Entries must be an original work created solely by the main poster submitter. The entry must not have been published elsewhere, including in response to other competitions. The poster must not contain material that violates or infringes on another’s rights. A poster containing any form of potentially offensive material or otherwise inappropriate for public display will be excluded from the competition. Please, make sure your art doesn’t contain messages inviting violence or hatred. The organisers reserve the right to withdraw any submissions at their discretion.

7) – Poster submitted will be judged by a member of each of the organisations mentioned earlier. There may be more judges that will be announced at a later time. The final decision will be made by the London Spanish Book & Zine Fair and is inapelable. If the entries don’t meet the criteria as determined by the judges, the contest may be declared void. The decision of the competition judges will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

8) –  Entries cannot be unfinished at the time of entry. Entries submitted after August 15th 2024 will not be reviewed.  Organisers cannot accept responsibility for entries which are not received or which are received after the closing date due to technical failure or for any other reason.

9) – The entrants must not publish their entries on social media before the award. The organiser may publish some of the entries on social media to promote the poster competition and the book and fanzine fair before the award. In this case, the author of the design will be named. 

10) – Prize will be awarded directly to the winner. There will be one awarded poster which will receive a payment of £ 200.- (British Pounds) donated by the London Spanish Book & Zine Fair. Payment will be made to an UK account by bank transfer.  If the winner is based in other country than in the UK, the prize will be paid through Paypal (the winner may receive less money due to the Paypal commission). 

11) – The winner of the Poster Competition will be notified in the first instance by email, to the email address provided. If any winner cannot be contacted within 7 days days, the entry may be declared void and a new winner chosen.

12) – By submitting a poster, entrants give permission for their work to be displayed at various events organised by the London Spanish Book & Zine Fair, special events, in publications and promotional material, and in electronic format on the internet without expectation of royalties nor other benefits. By submitting an entry, the entrant(s) grants the Organisers a royalty-free, worldwide, irrevocable right to publish their entry, whether successful or not, on behalf of the London Spanish Book & Zine Fair and in other media and formats as the Organiser sees fit. The copyright of the works will remain with individual entrant(s). The Organiser shall be entitled to modify the entry as necessary in order to exercise this right of publication. In any publication, only the name of the group and/or the first names of the entrant(s) will be displayed.
