Short Stories in SPANISH

The urban landscape has its myths, its architecture, its guava trees, its secrets, its small stories, its monsters, its villains, its violent scenes and also its poetry, its heroes, the great actions of men, its illusions, the epic and the hope...

Juan Solá's stories take us to a neighbourhood landscape, voices and confessions on the shores of daily chaos, a setting for a fauna of characters that each reader has crossed on the streets at some point. "Todos los amores" (All the loves), on the other hand, is an open window to the sea of doubts and uncertainty of lost ties, open wounds etched into the skin. On the border between narrative haikus and an intimate diary, Solá draws words and contours to grey ghosts of love. And finally, "La parte honda del río" (The Deep Side of the River) contains one of the most tender and profound childhood narratives ever read in Argentine literature. The incomprehensible and contradictory world of adults from the eyes of a child, the fears, loneliness and affections in the mirror of the naivety and sensitivity that we all keep in some corner of our hearts. No one leaves unscathed after reading Juan Solá's stories.
