In these stories, the fact of being a woman—not as a biological fact but as a construction—is at the centre of attention. All the characters in Pollera pantalon have one thing in common: disobedience. A rebellion against God, husband, country, imposed sexuality. Against the social ideals of order, moderation, and common sense, Jiménez's women put their bodies on the line, but instead of falling defeated and being sacrificed, they are the ones who take up arms (desire, joy, fury, passion) and throw themselves into life to battle whoever stands in their way, intent on taking away even a second of freedom.
